About the Artist

Ann Barrett’s concern is to communicate–through the colors, patterns and movement within her paintings–the complexity and beauty of the natural world.  Ann compliments her artwork with her environmental protection work, and considers this essential to the foundation of knowledge and inspiration from which she draws her paintings.

A painting is a fantasy, but one no more fantastic than life itself.  The myriad of species on our planet shows that life is about creative answers and open possibilities, a reality expressed  within the paintings.

Through the fantasy of painting, the artist creates a vision of what the future can be.  It can be a world in which diversity is respected and protected, a world where self-expression in all its benevolent forms is preserved as a right for all of life.  It can be a future where the workings of nature are understood and become a guiding force in human culture.

Barrett earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2015.
